I only today 3/8/12 learned of the passing of Dr Charles B. Emery, Jr. I am truly saddened beyond words. I called Dr Emery in early November of last year, to thank him for his tireless effort to save a young mans shattered and badly broken lower left leg some 4 decades ago.
That young man is myself. Without the amazing and selfless work of Dr Emery, I would have certainly lost my lower left leg from a motorcycle accident at the age of 18. He performed 4 separate surgeries, one of which was a bone graft, following that, I spent 2 years on crutches. But 40 years later, I am still walking, running, and living a normal life thanks to him.
Quite possibly the most amazing thing was, 40 years later, he remembered me, and he ask me only one question, â??Do you still ride a motorcycleâ? to which I replied through my tears of gratitude, â??No sir, I do notâ?.
The world has lost a great man, a healer, a kind and decent human being, and I know for certain, had it not been for Dr Charles B. Emery Jr, my life would have been tragically altered on November 12, 1971, had it not been for the healing hands of Dr Emery.
God speed good doctor, and may you rest in peace.

Mrs. Emery, Chuck, David, & Jon;
I had to spend several summers with my arms in cast thanks to Doc Emery…he did not do anything wrong – I did! I know you all have chuckled about the times he patched me up and I am grateful for it. I morn your loss but find comfort in knowing what a good person he was; tremendous doctor, devoted husband, good father, and trusted friend. May God bless you and your families.

Around 1962Dr. Emery did a complicated hip surgery for me. I have walked and worked on this hip all these years and it is working just as he said it would.It involved taking the ball out of the socket and replacing it. I was about 33 years and now I am 80. I loved Dr. Emery, I saw him several times when I was a teenager. He use to get so mad at me because I was such a tomboy and was always getting hurt. He was such a great physician and a wonderful man. I'm sure he is in heaven taking care of my mom and dad right now.
