Obituary of Carroll Higgenbotham

Funeral services for Carroll "Higgy" Higgenbotham, 76, of Aiken, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at New Holland Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Owen McAlister. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Beasley, Jeffrey Heath, Trent Fulmer, Greg Baughman, Chad Franklin, Sheldon Higgenbotham, Scott Higgenbotham and Jacob Parker. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken. Mr. Higgenbotham, widower of Libby Higgenbotham, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013. Born in Aiken, he was son of the late Raleigh & Dula Mae Cook Higgenbotham. Mr. Higgenbotham retired Avondale Mills Hickman Spinning. He was also a member of New Holland Baptist Church, Past Master of Star Masonic Lodge 99 Graniteville, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, charter member of Jamil Shrine Center in Columbia and a current Board Member of Aiken County Shrine Club. Mr. Higgenbotham was a diehard Carolina fan. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Higgenbotham and a brother, Talmadge Higgenbotham. Surviving are his daughters, Lynn Beasley (Ken) of Carrollton, GA and Kim Parker (David) of Aiken; a son, Andy Higgenbotham of Newberry; a sister, Joanne Taylor of Punta Gorda, Florida; brothers, Herbert Higgenbotham (Brenda) of Belvedere, Kenneth Higgenbotham (Phyllis) of Camden and Ronald Higgenbotham of Saluda; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to New Holland Baptist Church or the Aiken County Shrine Club.
