A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Margaret May Lafferty Hearn will be celebrated Friday, February 10, 2006 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken, SC, with Father James L. LeBlanc celebrant. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends Friday, February 10, 2006 from 9:15 AM until 10:15 at George Funeral Home, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. Mrs. Hearn, 91, of Aiken, SC, died Tuesday night, February 7, 2006 at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center, Aiken, SC. Born in Cambridge, MA, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Annie McPhee Lafferty. She retired from the Gillette Corporation in 1974 after twenty-years of service as a Bookkeeper. May had been a resident of Buzzards Bay, MA prior to relocating to Aiken, SC, in 1996 where she became a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. She also became an avid Bridge player and a member of the Aiken Chapter of WOW, Wise Outrageous Women. In Massachusetts, May was a member of the Theresian Society of West Roxbury, and traveled with them to Ireland and California. She was also a member of St. Margaret?s Arts and Crafts Club in Bourne, MA. In her spare time, May sewed, knitted, crotched, and smocked for her family and charities. She is survived by a son, William H. ?Bill? Hearn, and his wife Janice Herman Hearn, Aiken, SC; sister, Rita Lafferty, Weymouth, MA, and granddaughters, Brenna Hearn, Palo Alto, CA and Bevin Hearn, Columbia, SC. Her husband of 46 years, Carleton Henry Hearn, preceded her in death in 1997. The family has asked that memorials be made to St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, P.O. Box 438, Aiken, SC 29802 or the Alzheimer?s Association, c/o the Council on Aging, P.O. Box 3156, Aiken, SC 29802.
