My uncle Ralph was a fighter, who stayed strong up until the end. Uncle Ralph, you and your sense of humor will be missed. I now know where my own sense of humor came from. Thanks!

Indeed we are all saddened by the loss of our close and dear friend Ralph--yet at the same time, we all continue to share the enduring enrichment from having each been touched in so many ways by Ralph's actions and examples.
Although I've never met Ralph personally--surprisingly Ralph has grown to become a very close friend. Brought together initially by Ralph's love of art--we've since shared dozens of emails in which we've exchanged many thoughts over these past ten years.
Most remarkable has been the consistently loyal love of country, patriotism, and national pride that Ralph clearly felt and very openly expressed.
Second was Ralph's clearly expressed love for the game of golf. As an avid golfer myself, I'm certain that Ralph shared many memorable and enjoyable hours with his local golf buddies.
Yes--we will all miss Ralph dearly.
Each of us can continue to make this world a better place by following in the footprints left by Ralph.
Godspeed my good friend!!

Like the Ralph from the West Coast I met Ralph Manton only a half dozen times but we stayed in touch through email and I consider him one of my best, closest friends. An elegant, knowledgeable, witty, truly kind man with wide-ranging interests. I will miss him more than I can say. My thoughts and prayers are with Mary Ann who made the latter part of his life so happy and with the rest of his family.

Brother Ralph you are/were my older brother who had such an impact on my life that you can't possibly know how much you will be missed. Our family was made of individuals but as each of us grew we blended together into a strong love for each other that time made more strong.
Ralph you will be missed and thought of every day by everyone who knew you and everyone who loved you.
Have peace and be at rest,
I love you brother

I met with Ralph in person only twice; he lived on the "right coast" and I lived on the left. Nevertheless, he has been one of my best friends over the past 20 years, as we communicated several times a week by email; indeed, we often joked about our being "blood brothers" due to the similarity of our values what a sense of humor he had! And I did, indeed, love him like a brother.
So I think I knew him pretty well. Ralph was, truly, one of a kind. He was completely honest, and said what he thought -- he didn't try to con anyone. And yet, he was very sensitive, and respected the views and idiosyncracies of others.
Ralph was an old-fashioned guy, who believed in honesty, hard work, respect for others and the existence of a Supreme Being. And he truly loved Mary Ann, who he referred to often in his emails to me.
The world is truly poorer now that Ralph is no longer here; I don't think I'll ever meet anyone quite like him. It's a very sad day for all of us.
Ralph
