A daughter of the late Ralph Gunter and Dorothy Kneece Gunter, she was born in Lexington County on December 1, 1914. She considered herself a homemaker, but had also worked for many years in the spinning room at Bath Mills.
She was a woman who loved The Lord and whose church played a very important part of her life. She taught Sunday school for forty two years at Bethel Baptist Church, and Steifeltown Baptist Church. She also attended at the Salvation Army for twelve years and Solid Rock Baptist Church from 2001-2009. She loved to bring children to Christ and would never miss the opportunity to tell stories that would help them begin their faith.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, James F. Rodgers, who died in 2010; three brothers, J. C. Gunter, Clinton Gunter and Liston Gunter; two sisters, Lizzie Mae Gunter and Myrtle G. Hall; and a niece, Sandra Gantt and her husband Woodrow.
She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Dorothy G. Coursey, her great niece and caregiver, Gayle Allen Parkman and her great niece, Lois Leonard Barnes. She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews along with her beloved canine companion, "Taco".
