Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Cross Scott will be held Monday, June 28, 2004 at 7 PM at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Ranson, WV. Interment will take place Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 7 PM in the Bealls Mill Cemetery, Gassaway, WV. The family will receive friends Monday, June 28, 2004 from 5 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home. Mrs. Scott, 74, of Aiken, SC, died Saturday, afternoon, June 19, 2004 at her home. Born in Follensbee, WV, a daughter of the late Bronson and Audrey McElwain Cross, she had been a resident of Charles Town, WV from 1969 until relocating to Aiken, SC, in July of 2002 where she attended St. Paul Lutheran Church. She retired as an Art Teacher from South Jefferson Elementary School. A member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Charles Town, WV, she was a former member of the Tuscawailla Hills Garden Club and the West Virginia Teachers Association. In addition to her daughter, Debra and her husband Roy Hammer, Aiken, SC, a son, Gary and his wife Ruth Scott, Charles Town, WV; brother, Farrell Cross, Scott Depot, WV; sister, Jean Edwards, Panama, NY; granddaughters, Carolyn Parker, Samantha Scott, Megan and Sara Hammer and a great-grandson, Clayton Johnson, survive. The family has asked that memorials in memory of Mrs. Scott be made to the Always & Forever Memorial & Honor Program, Attn: A.D.A. Web, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.
