Obituary of Adeline Jones

Funeral services for Miss Adeline "Addie" Jones will take place on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 1pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church South Bypass at Trailridge Rd with Rev. W. Sherrell Dunn officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Ford, Rick Bruce, Robert Knight, Emmory Hale, Jimmie Bodie, Jim Boner and Jim Monk. Honorary pallbearers will be Addie's friends and co-workers from Tri-Development Center. Interment will follow at Westover Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial donations may be directed to Tri Development Center, PO Box 698 Aiken, SC 29802.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm.
Addie, 40, of Graniteville, SC, died Monday November 29, 2010 at Medical College of Georgia.
She was born in Augusta and had lived in Graniteville her entire life. Addie was a member of Curtis Baptist Church and had attended Howlandville Baptist Church in Warrenville. Addie was a member of "Friends in Action Self-Advocacy Group and a Special Olympian, having participated in the games since she was eight years old, winning numerous gold medals in swimming, bowling and tennis. In 1999, she earned a silver medal in tennis at the Special Olympics World Games held in Raliegh, NC. Through her association with Tri Development Center, she had worked as a housekeeper at Hound's Lake Country Club.
Addie was predeceased by her father, Bill Jones.
She is survived by her mother; Mary Helen Tharpe Jones, Aiken and five sisters; Beverly Mark Shaw, North Augusta, SC, Nancy Patton Woodward, Florence, SC, Mary Ruth Scott Singer, Aiken, SC, Peggy Neel Harold B., Greer, SC and Margie Gerry Simard, Hawaii. She is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews.
