Obituary of Thomas Spencer Monette

Thomas S. Monette, a resident of Aiken, South Carolina passed away peacefully on his journey to the Lord on December, 7, 2013. Tom was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on January 2, 1932 the eldest son of the late Thomas A. and Anna R. (Carroll) Monette. He was a graduate of the Sacred Heart School and Lowell High School, graduating in 1949. Tom was a veteran who proudly served his country with the Strategic Air Command in England after which he continued his education at Merrimack College. He was employed by IBM in New York for over 40 years, and after retirement he was an adjunct staff member at Columbia University's Executive MBA program, a guest lecturer at IBM's Executive Development Classes in New York, Sydney, Australia, and Singapore, and a member of many professional organizations. Tom was also an avid sailor and a member of the Professional Captains Association as a USCG licensed captain. He was a commodore of the Cortlandt Yacht Club in New York and taught sailing for many years.
Tom was a communicant of St. Gerard's church in Aiken. He was predeceased by his first wife Pat in 1997, and he leaves behind current wife Sharon (Watson-Hazlinger), two sons, Thomas G. of Mexico City and Edward Monette of Manhattan, a daughter Lisa (Monette) Flagg of Andover, Massachusetts and two grandsons, Nathan and James Flagg. He also leaves behind two stepsons, Kenneth and Christopher Watson of Florida.
