Aiken, SC - Brenda L. Steenland (74) passed away peacefully Monday, October 12, 2015. Brenda was born July 17, 1941 in New Jersey, to the late Frank and Rose (Brocaglia) Laudi. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from Farleigh Dickenson University (New Jersey) in Administrative Services, and started her career at IT&T. From there, she moved to Union Carbide (Danbury, CT), where she held positions of increasing responsibility in the Investor Relations Department. Brenda and her husband Don retired to Hilton Head, South Carolina nearly 30 years ago. Although retired, Brenda continued to work part-time in various administrative roles while assisting many charitable organizations. She moved to Aiken several years ago, and was employed by Aiken Internal Medicine. In addition, she was active in the Lions Club where she served as Treasurer, was a former volunteer and board member of the Aiken Animal Shelter, and was active in the Kalmia Landing community, where she served on the board for many years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, the late Donald Steenland. She is survived by two step-children, and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins in New Jersey, St. Louis, New York, Nevada and South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Friends of the Animal Shelter, Aiken County Animal Shelter, 411 Wire Road, Aiken, South Carolina. A memorial service for Brenda L. Steenland will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Kalmia Landing Clubhouse, 205 Landing Dr., Aiken, SC 29801. Namoi Frost Hewitt with the Aiken Unitarian Church will officiate.
