Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Lou Carter will take place at 11am on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the chapel of George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW, Aiken, SC with Dr. Rev. Fred Andrea officiating. Pallbearers will be James Carmen Binnicker, Keith Adams, Wayne Adams, Marc Hagelston, Cathy Kirby and Denise Sanders. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10am until the time of the service. The family will also receive friends at the home of Jack and Ginny Hagelston, 918 Oleander Dr., SE, Aiken, SC. on Wednesday evening, November 9, 2011, from 7pm - 9pm.
Mrs. Carter, 96, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at her residence.
A life long resident of Aiken and member of Aiken's First Baptist Church, Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Daniel L. Willis and Eva Nunn Willis. She had been a long time caregiver at the church nursery and vacation Bible school at Aiken's First Baptist Church and was the recipient of many hugs as the children grew older. She also enjoyed planting things in her garden, traveling and her annual trip to Clemson University's Week for Senior Citizens.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Finley H. Carter and two sisters, Minnie Rae Vincent and Lois Lott. She is survived by four daughters, Patsy Ann Hall of Bonaire, GA., Linda Adams of Augusta, Ga., Ginny Hagelston of Aiken, SC., and Judy Sanders of Aiken, SC; a sister, Lida Woodward of Memphis, TN; nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
