Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Maxine McCollum will be held on Thursday November 20, 2008 at 1pm at George Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken with Rev. Michael Dyar officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be; Jerome McCollum, Brandon Ford, Roger Hoover, B.J. Pilz, Seth Robertson, Tommy K. McCollum, and Erick McCollum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday November 19, 2008 from 6-8 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to Regency Hospice, 101 Summerwood Way, Aiken, SC, 29803. Mrs. McCollum, 74, of Aiken, died Monday November 18, 2008 at her residence. Born in Orangeburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Bessie Jackson Gleaton. She had lived in Aiken for over twenty years. She loved her family, church and yard sales. Helen attended Maranatha Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Vera Dell Fogle. Helen is survived by her loving husband of fifty eight years Harry McCollum, daughters, Debbie Charles Vermillion, Sharon TJ Johnson, Adrina Seth Robertson, all of Aiken; Beverly Norman Redd, Windsor; sons, Genie Sandy McCollum, Donnie Debbie McCollum, Tommy Pam McCollum, all 0f Aiken; sisters, Annette Hoover, Barbara Flaisig, Ettamae Dematteo, thirteen grand children, and fourteen great grandchildren. A special word of gratitude and thanks to our hospice friends, Cheri, Vanetta, Gail, Terry, and Ellen. These ladies have been a wonderful blessing to all of the McCollum family.
