A Funeral Mass for Peter James McDermott, Jr. will be celebrated by Father James LeBlanc on Tuesday November 15, 2005 at 10:00am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening, 6-8pm at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Mary Help of Christians Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, PO Box 438 Aiken, SC or to Hitchcock Hospice, 690 Medical Park Dr. Aiken, SC 29801.Mr. McDermott, 81, of Aiken, died Friday, November 11, 2005 at his residence, under the care of Hitchcock Hospice.Born in Long Island City, NY, he was the son of the late Peter James, Sr. and Ellen Lynott McDermott. He served his Country in the United States Army during WW II. He retired as a Postal Service Supervisor and moved to Aiken fifteen years ago. Peter was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, where he was active in The Legion of Mary and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was a long time volunteer at Aiken Regional Medical Center Pharmacy and front desk.In addition to his parents, a brother, Walter McDermott, predeceases him. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Albro McDermott, Aiken; two daughters, Ellen Charles Miller, Aiken and Kathleen McDermott, Aiken, a granddaughter, Ellen Derek Luton and one great granddaughter, Caroline Luton.
