Obituary of Wilda Annadean Lubner

Wilda Annadean Haag Lubner, known by all as "Dean", passed peacefully at her home on July 2nd, 2014. For 59 years, she was the beloved wife of Joseph Frank Lubner of Aiken, South Carolina. She was the mother to Sandra Kay Lubner Herlong (Robert), and grandmother to Hannah Lubner Herlong, of Saluda, South Carolina. She was also step-grandmother to Cornelia Herlong Leslie (Marshall), and step-great grandmother to Caroline "Callie" and James Leslie of Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Mrs. Lubner was born June 22, 1928, in Akron, Ohio. She was the youngest child of the late Olan Alexander Haag and Laura Edna Smeed Haag. She is predeceased by an older brother; Boyd Othello Haag; an older sister, Mildred Elberna Haag Mills (Fred Mills); and nephew, Gary Walter Mills. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lubner was a life-time member of the Cowenton Ladies Fire Auxiliary, White Marsh, Maryland, and for 46 years a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Overlea-Perry Hall Post #130, in Silver Spring, Maryland. During her life in Aiken, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Fellowship Sunday School Class, Evangelism Committee member, and Bunco Club for 35 years in addition, Mrs. Lubner was a member of the"9-Hole" and "18-Hole" Golf Groups at Houndslake Country Club for over 20 years. She was also involved with Christian Womens Club, Town and Country Club, Newcomers Club. She started "Birthday Girls", meeting every month to visit local restaurants. Dean enjoyed being with her family and friends; playing games including Bingo; arts and crafts; flowers and gardening; and puzzles of all kinds.
The family would like to thank the girls of Compassionate Hands Care Giving Service (compassionatehands@yahoo.com) for their dedication and caring of Mom during these past few months.
Family and friends are invited to visit with the family at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2724 Whiskey Road, Aiken, SC 29803, at 10 A.M. on Saturday July 5, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M with interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 2648 Jefferson Davis Hwy Graniteville, SC 29829.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials to be given to Trinity United Methodist Church Evangelism Committee, 2724 Whiskey Road, Aiken, SC 29803.
