Obituary of Patricia Murphy Brelsford

Patricia Brelsford Murphy, 84, of Aiken, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Edens Gardens. She was born July 1, 1925, in Cincinnati, OH, to the late Reverend Russell Lowell Murphy and Miriam Griffith Murphy.
Patricia Brelsford was graduated from Tufts University in Boston, MA, with a degree in Physical Therapy. She was married for 45 years to the late George William Brelsford V and they raised five children.
Patricia Brelsford, affectionately known as 'Patty', moved with her family to Aiken in 1963 from Toledo, OH. She worked part-time at the Hitchcock Rehabilitation Center and the Aiken Nursing Home. She served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Aiken Welcome Wagon, Head Start, Girl Scouts and the American Heart Association. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Aiken, Town & Country, Fermata Club, Palmetto Golf Club, Green Boundary Club and the Pinnacle Club. Her greatest joy in life was her family and seeing all of her children graduate from college. Patricia was an avid collector of Raggedy Ann Dolls and had her collection displayed at the Aiken County Museum. She was also an animal lover and bred Himalayan cats.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her husband, George William, V, daughter, Jayme Brelsford Moyle, son, Dr. Jeff Brelsford, and sister, Louise Murphy Powell. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen James French, MD, Great Falls, VA; Robin William Landes, Boca Raton, FL; Debra David Kinder, Columbia, SC; grandchildren, James French, III, David Kinder Jr., Clif Kinder II, Jessica Moyle McKinney, Chandler French, Elizabeth Landes, and great grandchildren Aerin McKinney and Delaney McKinney.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Aiken, followed by a gathering at the Green Boundary Club. Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Nicholas Rangos, Mr. Michael Hardwick, Mr. Fred Krisch, Mr. Charlie Simmons, Mr. John Niland, Mr. Michael Rogers, Mr. Gary Simmons and Mr. Kenneth Simmons.
