AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Carol A. Toepke, age 87, wife of the late Arden E. Toepke, died peacefully at her home on July 21, 2016. She was born December 24, 1928 in the Township of Caledonia, WI, the eldest daughter of the four children of the late Martin and Elenore Kuehl. She is survived by her devoted daughter Patricia E. Toepke; sister Mrs. Jorraine Goodman; brothers Orlin Kuehl (Marilyn) and Marlin Kuehl (Audrey); sister-in-law Carol Marten (Ralph); and many loved nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She married Arden on August 19, 1950. He passed away on November 24, 2003. Her high school senior quote was, "She entered to learn and she'll go forth to serve." Prior to moving to Aiken, SC in 1968, she worked at the AAL Insurance Company, Appleton, WI as an investment bookkeeper and secretary to the treasurer for twelve years; at Kimberly Clark, New Milford, CT as order editor for ten years; and then spent ten years working in Aiken for the Civil Defense Department and as secretary to the County Administrator. After retirement, she volunteered at Red Cross bloodmobiles and in the Red Cross office. She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Milford. As a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aiken, she provided secretarial services until her mid-80's, including preparing Sunday bulletins, monthly newsletters, attendance records, etc. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aiken. Her ashes will be interred next to those of her late husband's at Appleton Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Organ Fund, 902 Hitchcock Dr., SW, Aiken, SC 29803.
