Obituary of Randall James Odom

Randall James Odom, 82, of New Ellenton, SC., passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at home following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 29, 2015 at Corinth Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Michael Bell. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28, 2015, from 5-7 PM at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. Pallbearers will be Gary Odom, Jr., David Odom, Preston Hunt, Trevor Hunt, Kyle Lankford and Stephen Lankford.
Randall, affectionately known as "Daddy" by his children, "Randy" by friends and "Papaw" by his Grand's and Great Grand's, was born in Blairsville, GA a son of the late Clinton and Truly Ledford Odom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Anderson.
Survivors include his loving wife Belle Odell Odom of New Ellenton; three children; son, Gary Odom and wife Rhonda of Greenwood, SC, daughter, Sandra Hunt of Nashville, TN and son, Jamie Odom of North Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren; Gary Odom, Jr., David Odom, Preston Hunt, Cassie Hunt and Trevor Hunt; great grandchildren; Lauren, Reagan and Taylor Odom, and Noah, Gavin and Levi Odom; brothers; Ray Odom of Copperhill, TN and Ed Odom of Athens, TN; sisters; Lucille Crisp of Murphy, NC, Opal Bates of Murphy, NC, Monetta Kinser of Toccoa, GA and Bobbie Wright of Acworth, GA.
Randy spent most of his adult life in the New Ellenton area and retired from E.I. DuPont in 1991. He enjoyed life with family and played the game he enjoyed most, GOLF. Randy also loved working with his hands and was an artist with paint and wood. Formally a member of the New Ellenton Church of the Nazarene for over 20 years and currently an active member of Corinth Baptist Church.
He will always be remembered by his children as a loving, caring and giving father, by his grand's and great grand's as being a competitive, fun loving, build anything and do anything Papaw and a loving, kind giving person by his friends. He became a man of faith later in life and loved going to church and seeing his family sing and worship together.
