Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn C. Martin will be held Sunday, May 1, 2005 at 3 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC with Pastor Marion F. Britton officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens, Aiken, SC. Pallbearers will Danny Martin, Donald Martin, Divver Martin, Chad Martin, John Gregory, and Jimmy Hopkins. Col. George Earnhart will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 30, 2005 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Martin, 78, of Aiken, SC, died Thursday, morning, April 28, 2005 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Hendersonville, NC, a daughter of the late Oscar Harold and Pauline Brown Crone, she came to Aiken, SC, from Anderson, SC, in 1959. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and attended Lighthouse Baptist Church. An avid bowler, she was inducted into the Women?s Bowling Association Hall of Fame where she was a former State delegate. She is survived by hers sons, Albert D. ?Divver? Martin, Mt. Pleasant, SC, Donald R. Martin, Lexington, SC and Danny C. Martin, Aiken, SC; brother, William Crone, Naples, FL; and grandchildren, John Gregory, Heather Ingram, Nicholas Martin, Chad Martin, and Eric McCarty. Her husband, Albert D. Martin, Jr. and her daughter, Susan Martin Earnhart, preceded her in death.
