Funeral services for Mr. William P. ?T-Bone? Hughes, Sr. will be held Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 11 AM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, with Rev. Dr. Fred W. Andrea, III officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 26, 2005 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Hughes, 77, of Aiken, SC, died Monday, evening, January 24, 2005 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Cross Anchor, SC, a son of the late Floyd and Norma Lemmons Hughes, he had been a resident of Aiken, SC since 1951 where he retired in 1986 after over thirty-five years of service as a Power Operator with E. I. DuPont. He was a member of Aiken?s First Baptist Church and Aiken Lodge #156, AFM.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Alsie Poole Hughes, a son, William P. ?Billy? Hughes, Jr., Deborah R. Aiken, SC; daughter, Dianne Thompson, Aiken, SC; sisters, Dot Duckworth, Gray Court, SC, Betty Jo Duncan, Greensboro, NC, and Mary Blake, West Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Stephanie Long, Dayna Rosales, Jason Bunch, Devin Thompson, Bryan Hughes, Nicole Hughes, and Dewayne Nix, great-grandchildren, Christopher Long, Savannah Long, Veronica Moore, Pedro Rosales, Cody Nix, and Hannah Nix. In addition to his parents a brother, Leroy Hughes, who was killed in World War II and a sister, Margaret Osborne, preceded him in death.
