Obituary of David H. Gunter

Funeral services for Mr. David Henry Gunter will take place on 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in the Chapel of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Chris Addy officiating, burial with military honors will follow at Bethcar Baptist Church Cemetery, in Wagener. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org Mr. Gunter, 66, of Wagener, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Medical University of South Carolina. Born in Aiken, he was a son of the late Henry R. and Audrey E.S. Gunter. Mr. Gunter served his country in Vietnam in the US Army from 1968-1970. He then worked in the maintenance department for the Aiken County Public School District, retiring after 33 years. David was a loving husband, wonderful father and fun-loving Grand Pappy. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, talking with friends, carpentry and helping others. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph David "Davey" Gunter, and a brother, Fletcher Gunter. Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Linda Quattlebaum Gunter; a daughter, Kristy G. Garvin (Brant) of Wagener; two grandchildren, Maegan Elizabeth and David "Levi" Garvin; 3 brothers, Hoyt Gunter, Jimmy Gunter and Wesley Gunter (Barbara) all of Aiken; a cousin, Louise Valerio; a brother-in-law, Joe Quattlebaum of Wagener and his 4 legged best friend, Buddy.
