Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Elizabeth Smith Hill will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at 11 AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church, New Ellenton, SC, with Pastor Charles Jones and Pastor Randy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Bruce, Beau, Jonathan, and Bid Hill, Brian and Brad Gootee, Kevin Carr and Clinton Moore. The family will receive friends Monday, March 15, 2004 from 6 until 8 PM at George Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, 3175 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC.
Mrs. Hill, 73, of Aiken, SC, died Sunday, morning, March 14, 2004 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Attapulgus, GA, a daughter of the late Charles Robert and Margaret Therese Gibson Smith, she had lived most of she life in Aiken, SC, where she had been a Family Caretaker and also had worked for the Aiken County Board of Education. Mrs. Hill was a devoted and loving mother. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, New Ellenton, SC.
Sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce Edward and Jean Hill, New Holland, SC, David L. and Linda Hill, Lexington, SC, Bobby and Debbie Hill, Aiken, SC, and Chuck and Tara Hill, New Ellenton, SC; daughters and son-in-laws, Theresa and Floyd Carr, Aiken, SC and Sheryl and Marvin Gootee, Gainesville, FL; brothers, Thomas Smith, Huntsville, AL and Bobby Smith, Port St. Joe, FL; sisters, Pauline Miller, Deland, FL, Frances Baumgart, Okeechobee, FL, and Cora Sue Robinson, Port St. Joe, FL; twenty-two grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, survive. In addition to her parents sisters, Margaret Smith and Joanne Wise and a grandchild, Medwell Fitzgerald Bowery, also preceded her in death.
The family has requested that memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, c/o the Family Life Center, 600 Main St., SW, New Ellenton, SC 29809.
