A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. William Horace Neal, Sr. will be held on Friday, August 10, 2007 at 1pm at First Presbyterian Church, Aiken, with Dr. David Cozad and Rev. Martha Ebel officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken is assisting the family. Mr. Neal, 87, of Aiken, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Marion, NC, he was the son of the late James Edwin and Mary McDonald Neal, Sr.. He moved with his family to Aiken in 1978 from Shelby, NC. Will served on the comptroller staff for forty three years with United Merchants and Manufactures in the following locations, Old Fort, NC, Statesville, NC, Parsons, WV, Lafollette, TN, Shelby, NC, and Langley, SC. He received his education from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was an active member at First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Elder and Trustee. He was a member of the Senior Men's Club and a volunteer docent at the Aiken Museum.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Macky Neal, Jim Neal, sisters, Rowena Bolch, and Abby Giles. He is survived by his wife of forty eight years, Coleen Padgett Neal, son, William "Bill" Cathy Neal, Jr., North Augusta, grandson, William "Trey" H. Neal, III, and several nieces and nephews.
