A celebration of life service for Mr. Ronald Charles ?Ron? Walker will be held Friday, November 19, 2004 at 10 AM at George Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, 3175 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC, with Pastor Phillip Lee officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. As per his wishes, Ron will be cremated.
Mr. Walker, 65, husband of forty-two years to Mrs. Betty Rice Walker, died suddenly Wednesday, morning, November 17, 2004 at his home.
Born in Chicago, IL, a son of the late Reginald and Ruby Lennox Walker, Ron was a Vietnam Veteran having proudly served in the United States Marine Corps where he retired after twenty years of service having earned the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. Following his retirement from his beloved corps, Ron became an Electronics Buyer. Ron and Betty came to Aiken, SC in April of 2000 after spending twenty-nine years in Streamwood, IL. Upon coming to Aiken, SC, he became a member of and was previously on the Advisory Board of Cedar Creek and the James L. Hammons Marine Corps League, where he was currently serving as Junior Vice Commandant.
In addition to his wife, son, Ronald Scott Walker, Aurora, IL; daughter, Diane and her husband, Marc Koslovich, Bartlett, IL; brother, Roger Walker, Winter Haven, FL; and his beloved granddaughter, Shawna Koslovich, survive.
The family has asked that memorials in memory of Ron be made to Toys For Tots, 2869 Central Ave., Augusta, GA 30909.
