Deborah Green was born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1926 to the late Agnes Staib Naylor and Evan Anthony Naylor. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Eugene Green. Having grown up in Pittsburg, Kansas, Deborah moved to Washington D.C. in the late 1950s with her husband, who was employed by the National Academy of Sciences, and their two children. Deborah spent the next 40 years in the Washington D.C. area creating a 30-year career in banking, specializing as a financial advisor to medical doctors just beginning practice. She became a vice-president of several banks paving the way for other women in a field primarily dominated by men. Deborah presented numerous times at medical conventions including the American Medical Association and the Wharton School of Finance on how to find financing to establish and expand medical practices. She held numerous board positions including the Fairfax County Redevelopment Group and the Route One Corridor Redevelopment. Deborah also served as President of the Alexandria, Virginia Chamber of Commerce on two occasions.
In addition to her love of banking Deborah had a lifelong passion for music. She served as President and Chair of Fundraising for the Women's Committee of the National Symphony Orchestra, helping to establish the "Decorator's Show House" in the late 1960's. After her retirement, she moved to Denver, Colorado in 1995 where again, she pursued her love of classical music by serving on the boards of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and the Arvada Center for the Performing Arts.
She relocated to Aiken, SC in 2001 to be near family. In Aiken she gave her time to the Aiken Center for the Arts and her church St. Thaddeus, where she was a member of the Altar Guild, participated in several Bible study groups and greeted young smiling faces at Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by a son, Robert Michael Green and his wife Carolyn Green of Greenville, NC; a daughter Deborah Green-Myers and her husband Jeffrey Myers of Aiken, SC; seven grandchildren, Muriel Green and her husband Stephen Deaver, Eli Green, Hilary Green, Megan Green-Myers, Hunter Green-Myers, Katherine Myers, Elizabeth M.
