Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bedell Shoop will be held Saturday, August 9, 2003 at 1 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC, with Pastor Michael Dyar officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville, SC. The family will receive friends Friday, August 8, 2003 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Shoop, 97, of Ruston, LA, and formerly of Aiken, SC, widow of Mr. John Sidney Shoop, died Tuesday, evening, August 5, 2003, her residence. Born in PA,she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Ada Mae Matthews Bedell. She was a housewife. A daughter, Merilynn Jean Whittle, and her husband, Jerry, Ruston, LA; grandchildren, Christina A. Pedro, Richmond, VA, and John B. Richardson, Chester, VA, and great-grandchildren, Tessa Marie Boyle, Langley, SC, Jonathan Richardson, Chester, VA, Sarah Richardson, Chester, VA, Xavier G. Pedro, Richmond, VA, and Gianna M. Pedro, Richmond, VA, survive. The family has requested that memorials in her memory be made to the Louisiana Center for the Blind Children?s Program.
