Chemical / Nuclear Engineer Aiken Mr. Leon ?Lee? Galloway, 87, husband of Louise Galloway, died Saturday, December 27, 2003 at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, SC. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 29, 2003 at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave. SW. Visitation will be held tonight at the funeral home from 6-8PM. Private burial will follow the services. Mr. Galloway was born in New York to the late Aaron and Lienna Galloway. He is predeceased by his first wife of 50 years, Janet Davis Galloway. He moved to Aiken in 1953 from New Jersey. He received his degree from Virginia Tech formerly VPI in Chemical Engineering and his Masters from the University of North Carolina in Chemical Engineering. He retired from Dupont after 37 years of service and was involved in the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos, NM. Mr. Galloway was a 32nd degree Mason, Life Master with the American Contract Bridge League, member of Houndslake Country Club and involved with Aiken Reality Group. Survivors include his wife, son, Kirk Galloway, West Columbia, SC, daughter Linda L. Galloway, Wilmington, NC, step son, Russell Kevin Wooten, Aiken, SC, step daughter, Terry W. husband Ronnie R. Salmon, Aiken, SC, grandchildren, Aaron W. and John E. Galloway, and step grandchildren, L. Ashley, Zachary Taylor and M. Ryne Salmon. Memorials may be made to the Aiken County Library, 314 Chesterfield St. S., Aiken, SC, 29801.
