Memorial services for Mr. Walter Henry Marrs will be held Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 2:30 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC, with Pastor Donald J. Shires officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 25, 2003 from 1:30 until the hour of service and immediately following the service at the funeral home. Mr. Marrs, 96, of Aiken, SC, died Tuesday, afternoon, October 21, 2003 at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center, Aiken, SC. Born in Pineville, WV, a son of the late John Wesley and Sarah Alice Green Marrs, he had been a resident of Jackson, SC for forty-one years where he was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from E.I. DuPont. A son, James Alex Marrs, Nitro, WV; daughters, Nellie Marrs Angerman, Aiken, SC and Phyllis Marie Moody, Murfreesboro, TN; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, survive. A daughter, Donna Burgess and a son, Leo Marrs, preceded him in death. The family has requested memorials in memory of Mr. Marrs be made to the charity of choice.
