Funeral services for Mr. Joseph B. ?Snuffy? Metts will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at 10 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, with Pastor Taylor Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 19, 2004 from 6 until 8 PM at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC. Mr. Metts, 85, of Aiken, SC, husband of sixty years to Mrs. Martha Helen Cook Metts, died Sunday, night, October 17, 2004 at his home. Born in Jones County, NC, a son of the late Leevy and Orphie Metts, he had been a resident of Aiken, SC since 1944. He retired from the Carpenters and Millwrights local Union #283. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, a son, Jerry B. Metts, Aiken, SC; sister, Jane Metts, Trenton, NC; brothers, Jack Metts, Garner, NC, John Metts, Camp Lejeune, NC and Jete Metts, Summerville, SC; grandsons, Steven Bradley Metts, Jerry Ryan Metts, and Robert Rushton, survive. A daughter, Brenda Metts and a grandson, Terry Rushton, also preceded him in death. The family has asked that memorials in memory of Mr. Metts be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, c/o the building fund, 3925 Shiloh Church Rd., Aiken, SC 29805.
