Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Atwell Riley will be held at St. John United Methodist Church, 736 Greene St, Augusta on August 10 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation in the narthex of the church 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A luncheon for all attending will be held in the fellowship hall following the services. Mrs. Riley will be buried in Hanover, MA in the cemetery of the church where her husband served as pastor for 29 years. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken, SC is assisting the family. Barbara Atwell Riley of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Augusta, Georgia died at Westwood Nursing Home on August 8, 2006. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, the Reverend W. Roscoe Riley, her sons Mark A. Riley of Hanover, MA, Thomas E. Riley of Danville, NH, David A. Riley of Nashua, NH and daughter Patricia R. Vignati of Augusta. She also is survived by two sisters and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Riley was born in Bronx, NY and was graduated from Barnard College, NY. She was employed as an elementary school teacher in Hanover, MA for 26 years. Following retirement to Cape Cod with her husband she became a winter resident of Augusta. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in her name to CSRA Habitat for Humanity, Inc., PO Box 657, Augusta, GA 30903.
