Funeral services for Miss. Nora Josephine Crouch will be held on Friday, April 6, 2007 at 11am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken with Dr. George Howle officiating. Interment will follow at the Travis Cemetery, Saluda. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10am until the time of the service. Nora Josephine Crouch was born December 10, 1914 in Hereford, Texas to Joseph Evvy Crouch and Hattie Nora Betts Crouch. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Evvy Crouch, her sister, Ruth Marie Crouch Waldoch and her niece Jacqueline Jackie Waldoch. Josephine was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Georgia. She received her Master's degree in Library Science from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and she was a member of the American Association of University Women AAUW. Josephine was a high school English teacher and librarian in Rome, Georgia and Greenville, South Carolina for many years. She resided in Aiken, South Carolina for over thirty 30 years where she was Chief Librarian for Aiken County Public Library. In 1958 she became Director of the Aiken-Barnwell-Edgefield Regional Library System and retired after twenty-four 24 years of loyal service. In 1990 she moved to Jacksonville, Florida to live with her sister and brother-in-law. Josephine Crouch is survived by her brother-in-law, George L. Waldoch of Jacksonville, FL, and sister-in-law Nell Crouch of Arkansas. Her nieces are Janet Waldoch Travis of Wake Forest, NC, Jeroline Jeri Waldoch of Jacksonville, Florida and her nephews are Stephan Waldoch Lauchlin of Tallahassee, Florida, Don Crouch Nancy of Illinois and Robert Flo Crouch of Arkansas. Her immediate grandnieces and grandnephews are Jarret Travis, Ashley Waldoch, Alex Waldoch and Jessica Travis. On April 1, 2007 Josephine Crouch passed away at home due to natural causes at the age of ninety-two 92. In her prime she was a conscientious, hard working and dedicated lady to her profession. Her life was centered on her beloved career and the books she so cherished. She was a generous and caring daughter, sister and aunt. She will be missed by those who loved her.
