AIKEN, SC - A Requiem Mass for Mr. Thomas Evans Glover, Sr. will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 5, 2017at the old historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave., with the Very Rev. Gregory Wilson as celebrant. Final prayers and commendation will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Christopher Glover, Travis Glover, Thomas Glover, Adam Glover, Matthew Glover, and Jonathan Glover. The family will receive friends at George Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM. Mr. Glover, 90, of Aiken, died on Monday, October 2, 2017, at his residence surrounded by family & friends. Born in Dunn, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Antoinette Glover. He resided in Aiken for the past 69 years. He retired from E.I. DuPont and Westinghouse after a continued service of 40 plus years. He and his wife also owned and operated the "Big G" Nursery for 40 plus years. He served in the US Army Air Corp. and in the Aiken County Sheriff Reserves. Tom was a dedicated parishioner of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Poovey Glover; his sons, Carl Preston Glover and John Allen Glover; and ten brothers and sisters. Tom is survived by his children, Ann G. (Charles "Chick") Key of New Ellenton, Thomas E. (Doris) Glover, Jr., of Williston, Michael S. (Stephanie) Glover of Aiken, Dennis L. (Peggy) Glover of Williston, Donald B. (Beth) Glover of Aiken, Jane G. (Steve) Vance of Aiken: 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
