Funeral services for Mr. Richard "Lamar" Lott, Sr., will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008 at 1pm at Town Creek Baptist Church, Aiken with Revs. Eddie Grant, Jim Osteen & Brancie Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Town Creek Baptist Church 250 Town Creek Rd. Aiken, SC 29803. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, 6-8pm at the church George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken is assisting the family.
Mr. Lott died Monday, April 21, 2008 at his residence in Warrenville. A son of the late Mark Burgess Lott and Eva Boatwright Lott, he was born Monetta and had lived in Aiken County most of his life.
After serving in the US Navy during the end of the Korean Conflict, he went to SCE&G, where he worked for forty-two years, retiring as a Senior Technician in 2002. He then took a similar position with Synergetic Design Engineering Consultants at Ft. Stewart, GA, where he worked until the time of his illness. Lamar was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church where he was a long time member of the Cemetery Committee and the Alan Hay Sunday School Class. He loved fishing and shrimping and spent as much time as he could at Edisto, Beaufort and Hilton Head.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Betty Huff and his son, Davis "Boo-Boo" Lott.
Lamar is survived by his wife, Shirley Weathersbee Lott, Aiken; two sons, Richard Lamar Lott, Jr., Aiken and Harry Mark Lott, Aiken; a daughter, Sheri Lott, Aiken and six grandchildren, Jeffrey Lott, Taylor Lott, Tyler Lott, Macie Lott, Davis Jacobs and Markee Lott.
