Mr. Robert Stanley White, 84, of Aiken, died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, Augusta, GA. Services will be private and are under the direction of George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Aiken. Memorial donations may be made to the Aiken SPCA.
A son of the late James Foster White and Louise Mae Hook White, he was born in Framingham, MA and had lived in Ashuelot, NH before moving to Aiken in 1992.
He served in the US Navy during WW II and then went to work as a meat cutter in Boston, MA where he personally cut and delivered meat for Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe. He then spent seventeen years as a firefighter for the City of Framingham. Upon moving to Aiken, he took his trade to the meat section at the Southside Bi-Lo where he worked until becoming ill earlier this year. As a hobby, he enjoyed buying, selling and restoring antiques.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his former wife, Albertine Leroux White, Silver Springs, Nevada; two sons, Bruce White, Hyattsville, MD and Michael White, Grants Pass, OR; three daughters, Cindy Slamin, Natick, MA, Marion White, Grants Pass, Or and Candice Caron, Aiken and a sister, Dorothy Dauley, Franklin, MA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kimberly Slamin, James Slamin, Jr., Forester White, Landon White, Christopher Cardosi, Shane Carraway, Breanna White & Allison White and three, great grandchildren, Olivia Slamin, James Slamin, III and Charlotte Slamin.
