Funeral services for Mr. Wesley L. Howarth, Sr. will be private. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Aiken, is assisting the family. Memorial donations may be directed to the Arthritis Foundation P.O. Box 7669 Atlanta, GA 30357-0669 Mr. Howarth, 79, of Aiken, died on February 3, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House in Augusta, GA. A son of the late George and Catherine Crane Howarth, he was born in Bristol, MA and had lived in Aiken since 1991. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY where he earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering BSME. He then earned a Masters of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was a member of The American Society of mechanical engineers, A.S.M.E.. He retired from Westinghouse Savannah River Plant after working for Westinghouse for over 40 years. During that time, he earned several patents, and worked on the US Space Program. As hobbies, he enjoyed swimming, biking and golfing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Howarth was pre-deceased by a son; David John Howarth and his wife, Joan Brignola Howarth, who died in August of 2007.Wesley is survived by his daughter, Patricia Lynne Howarth Korb and husband Scott, Pittsburgh, PA, a son; Wesley L Howarth Jr. and wife Meggan, Pittsburgh, PA, and a brother, George Howarth and his wife, Irma. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Wesley III, Trevor, Nolan, Nicole and Alexandra Howarth.
