AIKEN, SC- Gloria F. Wayne passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the age of 88. She was the devoted mother to local resident, Dr. Gary Shepard and his brother, Scott, a financial specialist, who resides in Michigan. Mrs. Wayne was born October 10, 1927 in Boston, MA to the late Morris Glickman and Marion Nathanson Glickman. Gloria was known to the end to be a kind, sweet-hearted woman to all. She particularly was fond of not only playing golf, but being the club woman's captain and first woman to break 80 on her home course. She scored 3 rare holes in one in her life, one coming at the age of 75, and the next 8 days later! She also was a regular organizer of card games and movie excursions with her many friends at the Boca-Delray Country Club in Delray Beach, Florida, and was beloved and admired by all who were blessed to come into her circle. She always remained very proud of her two sons, Scott and Gary, who remained devoted throughout. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 30 years, Herbert Shepard, MD, with whom she lived in Boston and later Cape Cod; her second husband, Irwin Wayne, DVM in 2003, to whom she was married for 20 years living in Delray Beach. She was also preceded in death by her grand-daughter, Rebecca, daughter of Gary and Lisa, who succumbed to breast cancer last November at 41. Gloria is survived by her sons, Dr. Gary Shepard (wife Wanda Key), of Aiken, SC; Scott Shepard (wife Lori Mazza) both residents of Dexter, Michigan, beloved grandson Alex Shepard, who lives in Buffalo, NY, and beloved nephews and nieces Bob and Anetta Glickman (daughters Shira and Ilana), Diane & Herb Pugatch (daughter Trudi), Ellen and Bruce Mandelbaum of Sharon, Mass, Lisa Appleton, Elaine Appleton Grant, and Lizbeth Glickman, Sondra Porcolla, Ken Shepard, Jeffrey Wayne, and Bob Wayne. Funeral services will be held at 1:45 PM on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, 5808 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, FL 33484. Burial will follow in Eternal Light Memorial Park, Boynton Beach, FL. All are welcome to pay their respects and kind memories.
