Bobbie Jean Hughey Ayers, age 84, a resident of the Pepper Hill Nursing Center, Aiken, SC and a former resident of Traveler's Rest, S.C. since the age of 5, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 following a long illness which she handled with courage and determination. She fought her battle with dignity, perseverance, and grace. Her strength through her many years of illness proved to be an inspiration to all who knew her. Although she will be greatly missed, her family is grateful to our heavenly Father that He saw fit to relieve her of her pain and earthly limitations and took her to her heavenly home.
Born in Anderson County on January 25, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Fredrick and Rosanna Williamson Hughey. She was retired from the M-Tex. Corp where she served as an administrative assistant, book-keeper, and payroll administrator. She was a long time member of Reedy River Baptist Church where she sang in the Adult Sanctuary Choir, was a member of the Homemakers Sunday School Class, and had previously served as the Training Union Secretary.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Rev. K. Scott (Teri) Ayers, of Aiken, S.C.; three granddaughters, Brittany Corrine Ayers, of Waterford CT, Anna Rebecca Ayers, of Florence, SC, and Marlie Elizabeth Burke, of Aiken, S.C.; a brother and his wife, Daniel W. Burns, Sr., of Travelers Rest, S.C.; a special niece and her husband, Norma (Jimmy) Jones, of Belmont, N.C., and numerous other dear nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, James Clyde Hughey, Guyton, and Raymond Harold (Bill) Hughey; four sisters, Lois H. Jones, Viola H. Burns, Dorothy H. Burns, and Ruby H. Hester.
