Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie S. Bates will be held Sunday August 20, 2006 at 3pm at Central Baptist Church, Aiken, with Rev. Louie Anderson and Rev. Mike Cato officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Norman Baughman, James Stone, Travis Bell, Farrell Doolittle, Ken Barfield, and Robert Koon. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class, the nurses and caretakers of the NHC, The Southern Care Hospice, and Johnny Day. Visitation will be from 6pm until 9pm tonight at George Funeral Home and Cremation Center. 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken. Mrs. Bates, 80 of Aiken, died Friday, August 18, 2006 at her residence. A daughter of the late Darling and Bessie Randal Seigler, she was born and raised in the Aiken Community. Mrs. Jessie retired as a secretary in 1988 from the Graniteville Textile Mills. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Mrs. Bates was predeceased by daughter, Brenda Atchison, and sister, Julia S. Seigler. She is survived by her husband, Leroy J. Bates, daughter, Sandra B. Stone, Aiken, sister, Sue Garvin, Montmorenci, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, a son-in-law, Mack Atchison, Milledgeville GA, and sisters-in-law, Lorice Kirkland, Clearwater, and Lillian Bates, Gloversville.
