I had the honor of working with Kathleen at the public library and we would talk about things of fantasy and/or fiction time after time. Whenever I could visit she always had a smile & a kind word to share. It was because of her encouragement that I looked into & got accepted to an academic library. I know that I am a better person thanks to knowing her.

I've worked with Kathy at the Aiken County Library for many years. She and I became fast friends after I started working here.
We shared a love for reading and both of us could not wait for the next item to arrive that we had placed on hold.
We talked about many things over the years including our faith. Kathy was devout in her faith and told me more than once that she was looking forward to going to heaven. I will miss her so much but I am so glad she will not be in the terrible pain that I have seen her in for a long time now.
I was privileged to call her my friend.

Kathy was an exceptional women, she worked so hard and I cared for her deeply. Kathy and I met in 1991, she and her family have always been a special part of my life and my daughter, Emily's. Kathy was a great Rod Stewart fan, and any time I heard his music it always brought Kathy to mind and always will. When I step in a Barnes and Noble book store the first person I always thought about was Kathy, she loved to read. We had our Irish heritage in common and she was so proud to be Irish and loved things Irish so very much. I know she must have taken much pleasure in Ellen's 3 new little grand-children. The McDermott family has always had a special place in my heart and God is truly blessed to have such an Angel as Kathy as we were blessed for so many years...my thoughts and prayers are with you all and know we love each of you so very much.
