Mrs. Florence Louise Peck Bunch, 96, wife of the late James Barger Bunch, died Friday, August 26, 2011 at her residence in Aiken. A Memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 4pm at South Aiken Presbyterian Church, Aiken with Revs. Martha Ebel, Christopher Crotwell and Bob Pettit officiating. Interment will take place prior to the memorial service at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Monday at 3pm. Pallbearers will be Jon Eagerton, David Turno, Mark Hamm, Matt Hamm, Chad Hamm and Paul Ebel. The family will receive friends on Sunday, 3-5pm at GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to Trinity Hospice, 2803 Wrightsboro Rd # 38 Augusta, GA 30909-3994, South Aiken Presbyterian Church, 1711 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC 29803, or to the charity of one's choice. The daughter of the late Allan and Iva Peck, she was born on June 10, 1915 in Jewett, NY and was a 1934 graduate of the Presbyterian School of Nursing in New York City. During the 1950's she worked at the Aiken County Hospital on the ground floor and then transferred to Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She volunteered in many capacities, serving the American Red Cross, St. Joseph's Hospice, now Trinity Hospice and the Adult Reading Program. She also knitted baby hats and blankets for the Welcome Baby Program and sewed ditty bags for the Migrant Ministry in the summertime. South Aiken Presbyterian Church was a large and important part of her life. She served as a Sunday school teacher and was the first woman Elder, ordained in 1971. She also served as the president of the Women of the Church and later served as president of the Congaree Presbytery Women of The Church. She led Circle meetings and mentored many women who became close friends. She is survived by a daughter, Ann B. Eagerton, Barney, Aiken; a son, James A. Bunch Mary, Aiken; four grandchildren, Kristi Ann Eagerton, Jonathon B. Eagerton Kristen, both of Aiken and Rebecca B. O'Connor Mat, Tacoma WA and G. Allan Bunch, Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Trent & Chad Eagerton, Aiken and Peter, Patrick, Mathew, Jr. and Jacob O'Connor, Tacoma, WA, and a family friend Mel Moody. She was predeceased in death by a sister, Frances Peck Welch. She fought a short battle with cancer and the family is most grateful for the loving care we received from Trinity Hospice staff and nurses and ARMC nurses on 3rd floor.
