AIKEN, SC - Gary Lee Gilbault, age 71, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016.
Gary was born December 13, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Jack Glenn Duley, Sr. and the late Emily Gilbault Duley. He attended Wayne State University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Mortuary Science; however he pursued a successful career as self-employed handy man. Gary was proud to be a Native American born to the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians of Harbor Springs, MI. He had made Aiken, SC his home for the past nineteen years and was a communicant of St. Gerard's Catholic Church. Gary was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed working around the parish and repairing issues in private residences.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Jack Duley, Jr and Robert Duley.
He is survived by his beloved best friend, Marge Glauser, Aiken, SC; two step-daughters, Suzanne Yingling and Beth Ann Yingling Hoffman; two nephews, Jack Scott Duley and Christopher Duley; and a beloved sister-in-law, Marilyn Duley Welton.
A rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM this Friday evening at St. Gerard's Catholic Church with visitation following until 9:00 PM.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Gerard's Catholic Church with Father Emanuel Andinan as celebrant. Chief of the Beaver Creek Indians will perform a brief Native American Ceremony at the beginning of the mass. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Interment will be at a later date in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Good Hart, Michigan.
