Funeral services for Alice Virginia Spencer Thrailkill will be held Monday March 3, 2008, at 10am at the South Aiken Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Dyar officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday evening at George Funeral Home and Cremation Center 211 Park Ave SW Aiken. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the South Aiken Baptist Church Christian School Building Fund, 980 Dougherty Rd, Aiken SC 29803. Mrs. Thrailkill, 85, of Aiken died Friday February 29, 2008 at Azalea Woods in Aiken. Born in Thrift Texas, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Porter and Rebecca Armstrong Spencer. She graduated from Mid-Western University, The University of Berkeley California, The University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and the Central State University of Oklahoma. She retired from the Duval County School Systems in 1990 after 35 years of service. She attended Westconnett Baptist Church in Jacksonville Fl. She moved to Aiken in 1990 and united with the South Aiken Baptist Church where she served as the School administrator for two years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Bennie Francis Holt and a brother, Clarence Porter Spencer. She is survived by a son; David Andrew Thrailkill, and two daughters; Karen Francis Mike Knox, Jacksonville FL, and April Virginia Price, Aiken, She is also survived by four grandchildren; Tiffany Valdes, Josh Curry, Keith Price, and Wendy Thrailkill and one great granddaughter, Chloe Valdes.
