A Funeral Mass for Mr. Joseph Kostura, Jr. will be celebrated on Friday, May 11, 2007 at 9:30am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Interment, with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 6-8pm at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Mr. Kostura, 90, of Aiken died Tuesday May 8, 2007 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Anna Yurch Kostura, he was born in Cleveland, OH and had lived in Maple Heights, OH before moving to Aiken in 1996. He served his country in the US Army during WW II as a photographic technician and served at Normandy, Rhineland and Northern France. He retired in the early 1980's as Chief Inspector for the former Anchor Fasteners, Bedford Heights, OH where he worked for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Church. He also was a member of Pairs & Spares at the Odell Weeks Center and was a member of AARP. In addition to his parents, he is pre-deceased by three brothers and a sister.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Lillian Nycz Kostura, Aiken, Two sons and their wives, Tom & Georgene Kostura, Graniteville and Joey and Clare Kostura, Colorado Springs, CO; and a daughter and her husband, Sharon & Chuck Campbell, Aiken. Mr. Kostura is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
