Funeral services for Elizabeth Durland Herron, 92, of Aiken, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Chapel of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 211 Park Avenue, Aiken, SC. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Mrs. Herron, widow of Grady Elijah Herron, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Born and raised in Augusta, she was a daughter of the late Clinton Louis & Mary Evans Durland. She moved to Aiken in 1948 when she married Mr. Herron. They owned and operated Herron's Grocery Store located on Hampton Avenue their entire married lives. She played a major role In the success of their business. Mrs. Herron was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many church calling capacities. She enjoyed the opportunity to provide service to others throughout her 92 years. Her influence will continue to be felt forever. She was preceded in death by daughters, Donna Elizabeth Herron Mackey and Mary Rebecca Herron; brothers, John Archie Durland, Raymond Eugene Durland and Clinton Louis Durland. Surviving are her brother, Robert William Durland Barbara of Augusta; sisters, Harriett Ann Durland Nabahe of Ft. Worth, Texas and Alice Faye Duvall Albert of Augusta, Georgia; granddaughters, Tammy McGee Johnny of Florence, Rena Freeman Edward of Anchorage, AK and Jennifer Tuladhar Rajiv of Boston, MA; seven great-grandchildren, Brianna McGee, Bailey McGee, Bethany McGee, Kenneth, Emily, Madison and Nathaniel Elijah Freeman, and many extended family members.
