I am very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He and I were occasional colleagues at the Savannah River National Laboratory. We co-authored two research articles concerning chemical analysis of tritium in concrete. He was great to work with, very thorough, and he was an excellent analytical chemist. He enjoyed his work, and was a key expert in this field for the lab. My condolences to his family and friends.

Sandy, we're so sorry to hear about Bob and about your losing him. You two have been great friends for a long time, and we'll miss him very much. Bob was a wonderful brother-in-law. I have many great memories of going to visit my sister and Bob and them coming to visit me.I always admired him for being the fantastic husband and dad that he was. When I was a kid I remember thinking he was the smartest man I had ever known! I aways looked up to him. I'm just sorry I didn't get to know him better.

I am deeply saddened to here of the passing of my uncle Bob, there are various fond memories I have had, most of them were while we celebrated thanksgiving dinners shooting pool in my grandparent’s home, then a very special fishing trip that would be the last trip for my father, which will always be a special memory of mine.

Dear Sandy and Family,
Bob was one of the finest persons we have known in our lifetime. We enjoyed his pleasant demeanor, intelligence without ego, and his dry humor. Our memories from years dating back to Purdue University will be treasured. Bob and Sandy have always remained wonderful friends, and we enjoyed summer vacations and other visits when both couples had children growing up. Bob was very spiritual, so our comfort is that somehow in the Mystery of All he now has a place of peace and honor. May your hearts mend over time, but you can always be proud of everything Bob Hochel represented.
