A memorial service for Mrs. Helen Thacker Apperson will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 1pm at Aiken's First Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. Fred Andrea, III officiating. Interment will be private. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave. SW is assisting the family. Mrs. Apperson, 84, of Aiken, died Wednesday at Shadow Oaks Assisted Living Center in Aiken. Born in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Henry Aubrey Thacker and Gertrude Agnes Elliott Thacker. Mrs. Apperson was an active member of Aiken's First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was also a local, math tutor. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Courtney E. Apperson, Sr., who died in 1994. She is survived by her son, Courtney E. Apperson, Jr. and his wife Pam, Aiken; a daughter, Carolyn Apperson-Hansen, Shaker Heights, OH; three granddaughters, Lori Gourdin and her husband, Peter, Seneca, SC, Joy Apperson, Seneca and Kirsten Hansen, Columbus, OH. She is also survived by five great grandchildren.
