Mr. C.T. ?Buddy? Coleman, Jr., 64 died after a brief illness with cancer with his family at his side Saturday, February 7, 2004 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held 11AM, Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at George Funeral Homes, Historic Downtown Chapel with Rev. Henry Chennault officiating. Visitation will be held tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home. Interment: Bethany Cemetery. Mr. Coleman was born in Augusta, GA, to Clester Terrell Coleman, Sr., and the late Alice Broxton Coleman. He moved to Aiken at the age of 12 from Columbia, SC. He was a graduate of Aiken High School Class of 1958, attended Wofford College. He joined the Army and served from 1961- 64 in Frankfurt, Germany. Upon returning to Aiken in 1964, he began working in the family business, Coleman Shoes for 21 years. He has been presently employed by Carlisle Tire and Wheel for 12 years. Buddy was very involved in the community, serving on the Aiken Rotary Club Board of Directors in 1986, Vice president in 1987, President in 1988. President of the Dawn Breakers Toastmasters Club in 1985, Aiken Downtown Merchant Association President in 1974, 77, 78, Aiken Chamber of Commerce Small Business Man of the Year in 1984. Member of the Winning team of the Walter Hagan Cancer Golf Tournament and was very instrumental in securing money to support Christmas Lights for downtown Aiken for a number of years. Survivors include his wife, Judith Courtney Coleman, son, Christopher Terrell Trenia Coleman, Newport News, VA, Daughters, Courtney Coleman Carl Kastner, Raleigh, NC, Elaine Coleman Rhett Johnson, Aiken, SC, father , C.T. Coleman, Sr.,Aiken, SC, sister Mae Coleman Miller, Hall County, GA, and granddaughter, Brianna Coleman, Newport News, VA, and several nieces and a nephew.
