Although I had not seen or talked with Eddie in a number of years, I was very proud of his accomplishments and cherished our friendship. I am honored to have known Eddie and wish his family and friends my deepest condolences in your loss. My dear sister-in-law:
Eventhough we have never met, just talked via phone calls, I feel like I know you. Maybe this is because my brother loved you so much and this made me close to you. Peggy I have lost all 5 of my brothers, my Mom and Dad and by the way, several husbands. If this is any comfort at all, let me tell you that in time, all will calm and you can think of good things and talk of good memories of the short time you and my brother had. God gave you my brother for just a short time and I know you probably feel a little cheated. Don't feel cheated, feel lucky you had the privelage and Ed had the privelage of knowing and loving one another the short time. It will get better. Love

Mrs. Peggy, I was so saddened to learn of the loss of Mr. Hammond. I met him in the late 90's and built a customer relationship with him. I would post all his events for the Marine Corp league on Cable's PSA channel. He is one of a kind; a man with a great heart always looking out for others. I was so happy when he met you and introduced you to me as Mrs. Peggy Hammond. Please know that you and the family are in my prayers. I pray that God give you strength and guidance. You have my number, please call me if you need anything. God bless you and stay strong.

My brother, my friend, my mentor and most important my oldest brother of six of us, I am going to miss you every waking day. You were my body guard and my buddy. You were a pain in the butt when Daddy made you shaparone me. Then we grew up and you were till the day you passed, always there for me. No problem too big for big brother to handle for me. My God, I am lost without you. You did it your way Ed and that's what made you so unique. Good bye my brother.

Ed Hammons was a dynamic leader in civic affairs. He was the reason I became involved with the Marine Corps League. Ed saw to it that I and the other FMF Navy Corpsmen were treated with the same respect accorded to all Marines. To me, he will always bear the title, "Commandant". SEMPER FI!
