Funeral services for Mr. Ellis A. Redd, Sr. will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 2pm at Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Gillette officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 11, 2009 from 4-7pm at the home of Billy Redd and on Saturday from 1pm until the hour of service at the church. George Funeral Home & Cremation Center is assisting the family. Mr. Redd, 103, of Aiken, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at his residence.
A lifelong resident of Aiken County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lydia Johnson Redd. He was a charter member and a deacon of Memorial Baptist Church. His hobbies included car dealing, pocket knife swapping, fishing, dancing and raising horses. He was a retired furniture salesman from T. R. Maxwell.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Curtis McLain Redd, three brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his sons, Arnold Redd, Jr, and Chrissy Morrissey of Summerville, SC; William "Bill" Redd and his wife Suzanne of Aiken, Kent M. Redd and his wife Susan of Aiken; grandchildren, Elizabeth Porras, Ellis Redd, III, Rachel Church, Kristen Cothran, Justyn Redd, Tyler Redd, Will Redd, Jordan Redd, four great grandchildren, and his loving companion of fourteen years, Mary Maroney.
