Funeral services for Mary Ellen Pruiett will be held on Wednesday September 3, 2008 at 11am at Cedar Creek Church, 3001 Banks Mill Rd, Aiken with Pastor Philip Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday at George Funeral Home and Cremation Center 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken.
Mrs. Pruiett, 59, of Aiken, died Friday August 29, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House, Columbia, SC.
Born in Twist, AR, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Shopher and Mrs. Mildred West Shopher Sisson. Mary earned a BS degree from Perdue University in industrial engineering, then after having two sons, she went to work for the Whirlpool Corporation as a clerk typist and worked her way to Corporate Director of Tooling and Capital Budgets. She was then hired by Black & Decker to run their saw blade manufacturing plant in Shelbyville, KY. Whirlpool recruited her back as Director of Manufacturing for their built-in refrigerator division in Lavergne, TN. She was then hired by Life Style Furnishings as the Executive Vice-President of operations for their Burkline Division until 2001 when she retired to spend more time with her family and to pursue some private consulting work.
Mary is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Lannie Pruiett, Aiken, her mother Mildred Sisson and Step-father Verlin Sisson of Benton Harbor, MI, her two sons; James Pruiett, and Robbie Jennifer Pruiett, Aiken, SC, four sisters; Martha Steve Thompson, Atlanta, GA, Linda John Kessman, St. Joseph, MI, Peggy Jeanette Dr. Frank Prout, Knoxville, TN and Robin Dennis Stowe, Benton Harbor, MI, She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Austin Pruiett, Alexis Pruiett, Kaitlyn Pruiett and Morgan Pruiett all of Aiken, SC.
