A Funeral Liturgy for Mr. Dexter Gerard White, Jr. will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at 11am at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Avenue, SW, Aiken. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6-8pm. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hitchcock Foundation, 444 S. Mr. White, 88, of Aiken, died Sunday, October 28, 2007 while on his daily walk. He was an avid walker and nature lover.
Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Dexter and Edith Smith White, Sr. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business from Colgate University, Hamilton, NY and was the former owner and photographer of White Studio. He also worked as a Financial Advisor at the Bank of New York, and for Union Carbide in the credit department.
A recipient of the Purple Heart, he proudly served his Country in the Army during WWII, participating in the landing at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife; Gaye Worthington White, a sister; Hope White, and a brother; Graham White. He is survived by his wife; Marion Metcalf White, daughter; Danielle White, Freeport, NY, two step-daughters, Dale Jones and Valerie Khalil Naimzadeh, both of Aiken, step-son; Edwin Rosemary Green, Sr., Monroetown, NJ, step-grandchildren; Jennifer Naimzadeh, Sarah David Naimzadeh-Kiersh, James Reese Green, Anthony Green, and Edwin Green, Jr.
