Memorial services for Mr. John Sobel will be held at 4pm on Monday, August 24, 2009 at George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave, SW, Aiken with Rev. Mark Hudson officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to Tri-Development Center or Regency Hospice. Mr. Sobel, 50, of New Ellenton, died Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Alfred and Catherine Douglas. He was a grounds man at Tri-Development Center in Aiken and an usher at church. John was a big New York Mets fan and New York Jets fan. He was an avid artist and liked to go horseback riding. He is survived by his sister, Ronda Douglas, aunt, Althea Gregory, and numerous cousins. The family would like to thank Cheri Hicks and Regency Hospice.
